The Indian culture has very rich mythologies and philosophies that can aptly serve as the theme for a metal album. Ironically, there are more bands outside India that take inspiration from these themes than bands within India itself. The latest band to do so, is the one man atmospheric black metal outfit Raventale from Ukraine. The band’s upcoming full length ‘Dark Substance of Dharma’ deals with the philosophies of karma and dharma. Playing a style of doom flavoured atmospheric black metal, the music has a transcendental feel to it and is perfect for talking about these subject matters.
Here, we present to you, the final track from the album, titled ‘Last Moon Fermata’. The most melodic track on the record, it begins with beautiful piano parts that build up an aura of mystery and intrigue. The build up, aided by symphonic parts and groovy rhythm, builds anticipation and slowly gives way as the main riff starts playing. The rasped vocals sound acidic and the subtle symphonic atmosphere complements it beautifully. The song proceeds in a slow and methodical pace, so as to allow the melody to sink deep into the minds of the listener. The pace of the track and the melodic inclination gives the track a doom metal like feel.
One way to describe this track would be to call it beautiful. It’s like a dark entity that attracts the listener with it’s deceptive beauty, while it’s intent is vile and vicious. One can’t help but be mesmerized by the well crafted melodic leads that are engulfed in an atmosphere of dark symphony.
Check out the track in it’s entirety below and give in to its dark seductive lure.
The album releases on October 5th, 2015 through BadMoodMan Music.
