At a time when every one is intent on being more technical than every other band, perhaps success lies not in being as technical as one can be. What’s more important rather, is to be able to come up with music that sounds complex, but just enough to keep someone intrigued and not so much as to lose the listener’s interest. Portuguese five piece Annihilation’s newest EP, ‘The Undivided’ is an example for what I’m talking about. This album showcases how songwriting should take a higher precedence than complexity.
