The first time I listened through this album I didn’t know what to think. There’s a lot of stuff going on. All the time. The album is called ‘World Metal. Kosmopolis Sud’, and you won’t hear me disagree.
One album that comes to mind is The Beatles’ ‘White Album’. Not that it is similar musically in any way, but when The Beatles recorded their ‘White Album’, they did exactly what they wanted to do. This album has that same feeling. The “We don’t care what you say, it’s our album” feeling. I really think they get away it too. Both The Beatles and Solefald.
There’s a lot of electronic elements that somehow makes this sound as if it’s a collaboration between Arcturus, The Kovenant, later era Samael, Laibach, Sepultura and Ministry. As I’m typing this I’m listening to the album for the 7th time and it feels like I’ve barely started to scratch the surface.
It actually doesn’t matter how I describe the album, as nothing can prepare you for the album. One thing is sure though, one time is not enough to understand what you’re listening to. I almost wish the lyrics were included with the promo, because it feels like the album tells a story. A dystopian story. The music is eclectic, avant-garde, progressive, futuristc.
I have one complaint about this album. It’s too short. Or at least it feels like it. The album is 50 minutes long, but it feels like it goes on for 5 minutes. So please! Make a double album the next time.
